On Kidd G, Rebel Music and Geffen Records collaborate with Big Machine.
According to Billboard, Rebel Music and Geffen Records have partnered with Big Machine Label Group's Valory Music Co. imprint to support developing country artist Kidd G.
"We knew it would take a special team to help Kidd G develop his unique fanbase around the world when we partnered with him last year," said Jay Sang, founder/CEO of Miami-based label and management company Rebel Music. "He has a real dream team set up for him to succeed with Geffen and Big Machine Label Group on board with us."
Following the December release of Teenage Dream: 1000 Miles from Georgia, a deluxe edition of Kidd G's debut EP, which reached No. 3 on Billboard's Heatseekers album chart, Kidd G's first release under the new arrangement, featuring new song "Last Call," is out tomorrow.
Jonathan Gabriel Horne, an 18-year-old TikTok sensation from the small Georgia town of Hamilton, combines country, rock, and hip-hop in his music. He's released a variety of similar-styled anthems that praise rural life in recent months, including the sloping "Dirt Road," which has over 16 million YouTube views and reached No. 40 on Billboard's Hot Country Songs list.
"Kidd G is the sound of the next generation of great Georgia artists who've fused country and hip-hop in their own special way," said Scott Borchetta, president/CEO of BMLG. "Kidd is a southern boy who, like Jason Aldean and Brantley Gilbert before him, will blur and eventually stretch format lines." Valory will assist with country radio as well as various marketing and commerce programs throughout the country.
Geffen Records GM Lee L'Heureux said, "Kidd G is an amazing artist who has galvanized music audiences with his strong songwriting and ability to bend genres." "We're thrilled to be working with Scott Borchetta and the rest of the team at The Valory Music Co. to help Kidd G expand his fan base in the country music world."
This is the third cross-promotional agreement between pop and country labels in recent months.
Last year, Big Loud Records and Republic Records teamed up to work on Morgan Wallen, and now Lily Rose, while Universal Music Group Nashville and Interscope Records will collaborate on Kacey Musgraves' new album, which will be released later this year.
